Frequently Asked Questions

How do you ensure the health of your Chesapeake Bay Retriever puppies?

Every WildWood puppy comes with a comprehensive health screening covering hereditary dysplasias. Our health protocol includes OFA screenings for all sires and dams, heritable genetic screening, and a full veterinary wellness check and first round of vaccinations before they head to their forever homes.

Are your litters AKC registered?

Yes, all WildWood litters are registered with the American Kennel Club. Puppies are typically sold on a limited registration basis for companion and hunting homes, which protects the integrity of our breeding program while ensuring every owner receives the pedigree of a premier heritage breeder.

How do deposits and puppy reservations work?

A deposit of $500 secures your position on our pick list for a specific litter. While deposits are non-refundable, they are transferable to a future WildWood litter if your circumstances change or if a specific gender or temperament match is not available in the current group.

Can we visit the kennel or see the puppies via video?

To protect the health of our litters, we welcome visitors once puppies have reached seven weeks of age. For out-of-state families, we provide regular video updates and photography so you can observe their development and emerging personalities from week to week.

How do you match puppies to their new homes?

We utilize temperament assessments and our daily observations to guide families in the selection process. We identify key traits like drive and biddability to ensure high-performance hunters go to appropriate field homes and gentler pups go to active domestic environments.
